Start 1.30pm. Walk lasts approximately 2.5 hours including a brief refreshment stop.
Meet at the Broads Authority car park off Herringfleet Road.
Parking: available at the Broads Authority car park off Herringfleet Road.
A guided walk through Herringfleet Hills, across the marshes and along the River Waveney looking at recent enhancemments provided with the flood defence works and notable flora and fauna.
Suitable for ages. Group limited to 20 places.
PLEASE NOTE there will be a brief refreshment stop midway with the opportunity to visit the pub.

Compartments 1 and 2 piling removal planning application

Area of proposed piling removalA planning application (reference 2009/0226) for the removal of piling in Compartments 1 and 2 (Upton and South Walsham Marshes) was submitted to the Broads Authority in August 2009. This will complete the programme of works started in April 2006. Construction was completed in autumn 2007, since that date regular monitoring has been undertaken of the setback banks and the establishment of vegetation. Permission was granted in November and works are due to start late 2010.

The piling removal will complete the defence works in this area. Monitoring of the site, including the erosion of the remaining cadge bank, will continue for a minimum of four years.
